Music Engraving FAQs

Music engraving refers to the process of creating professional-quality sheet music from existing material, such as handwritten scores, old prints, or digital sketches. Unlike transcription, which involves writing music by ear, engraving focuses on formatting and readability using notation software.

We can work from PDF, scanned images, handwritten manuscripts, or MusicXML. We also accept source files from notation software like Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, and MuseScore. For audio files, please refer to our Music Transcription Service which is specifically designed for transcription from recordings.

We deliver a print-ready PDF, and upon request, we can include the original notation file (Dorico, Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore), MusicXML, and MIDI files.
