Our Commitment

Music Notation Hub Inc. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe that everyone, regardless of ability, should be able to access our services and navigate our website with ease.

We are continually improving the user experience for all visitors and applying the relevant accessibility standards across our website and service pages.

Conformance Standard

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), define requirements for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.

WCAG 2.1 defines three levels of conformance: Level A (minimum), Level AA (mid-range), and Level AAA (highest). Our goal is Level AA across all pages, with Level AAA measures applied where practicable.

As a company based in Ontario, Canada, we also align our accessibility efforts with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (O. Reg. 191/11), which adopts WCAG 2.0 Level AA as the standard for web content. By targeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA, we meet and exceed the AODA requirements.

For users accessing our website from the European Union, our accessibility measures also align with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) (Directive (EU) 2019/882) requirements, which reference WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the applicable standard for web-based services.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full compliance, some areas of the website may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Known limitations include:

• Third-party embeds: Some embedded content (such as YouTube videos, Soundslice interactive players, and Google reCAPTCHA) is provided by third-party services whose accessibility features are outside our direct control.
• Legacy content: Some older WordPress pages built with the Elementor page builder may have accessibility gaps that are being addressed progressively.
• PDF documents: Delivered sheet music files (PDF) are optimized for print and may not include full document accessibility tagging for screen readers.

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all areas of the site.

Assessment and Testing

We assess the accessibility of our website through a combination of:

• Automated testing: Regular scans using accessibility evaluation tools (such as axe, Lighthouse, and WAVE) to detect common issues.
• Manual testing: Keyboard navigation testing, screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver), and colour contrast verification during development.
• Ongoing monitoring: Accessibility is reviewed as part of our page development process. New pages are built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards from the outset.

Browser and Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following:

• Modern web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) in their most recent versions
• Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
• Operating system accessibility features (zoom, high contrast, reduced motion)
