Piano & Vocal Transcription — Frequently Asked Questions
How much does piano & vocal transcription cost?
From $35 USD per minute of audio. Pricing depends on piano complexity and number of vocal parts. Minimum project fee: $39 USD (~$55 CAD). Send us your audio for an exact, no-obligation quote.
What exactly is a piano/vocal (PV) score?
A piano/vocal (PV) score is the standard format for musical theater, worship music, and vocal performance. It contains the full piano accompaniment plus the vocal melody with lyrics.
Every PV score includes:
- Piano accompaniment: Full grand staff (treble + bass clef) — written out, not just chords
- Vocal melody: Separate staff above the piano with lyrics aligned below
- Chord symbols: Above the top staff for guitarists and other accompanists
PV scores are used by music directors, accompanists, and performers.
Can you transcribe piano and vocals from a YouTube video?
Yes. Send us the YouTube link and we’ll extract both the piano accompaniment and vocal melody from the audio. We can also work from audio files (MP3, WAV, FLAC), voice memos, or any other recording format.
How accurate is the piano part?
Every chord voicing, bass line, rhythm, and dynamic is captured by professional musicians. We listen through the mix to isolate the piano part with precision. Errors are corrected at no extra charge.
Can you include chord symbols above the staff?
Yes. Chord symbols are included by default in every PV score — placed above the top staff for easy reading by pianists, guitarists, and worship band members.
Can you create a simplified piano accompaniment?
Yes. If the original piano part is too complex, we can create a simplified version as an add-on — maintaining the harmonic foundation while reducing technical difficulty. This is ideal for intermediate pianists and rehearsal accompanists.
What file formats do you deliver?
Standard delivery includes a print-ready PDF. Additional formats available on request:
How long does PV transcription take?
Most projects are delivered in 2–5 business days. Dense piano textures or multiple vocal parts may require additional time. Rush delivery is available for urgent projects.
Can you transpose the PV score to a different key?
Yes. Transposition is available as an add-on, or you can use our dedicated music transposition service.
What’s the difference between a PV score and a lead sheet?
A PV score includes the full written-out piano accompaniment. A lead sheet has only the melody, chords, and lyrics — no piano part.
- PV score: Full piano + vocal melody + lyrics. For accompanists, music directors, and rehearsal pianists
- Lead sheet: Melody + chords + lyrics on one staff. For performers who improvise their own accompaniment
Visit our lead sheet service if you need the simpler format.
