Acoustic Guitar Transcription — Frequently Asked Questions
How much does acoustic guitar transcription cost?
Acoustic guitar transcription pricing is based on complexity:
- Easy (simple strumming, basic fingerpicking): from $18 USD/min
- Average–Advanced (moderate fingerstyle, jazz voicings): from $23 USD/min
- Difficult (intricate fingerstyle, classical repertoire): from $29 USD/min
Minimum project fee: $39 USD (~$55 CAD). Upload your audio for an exact, no-obligation quote.
Can you transcribe fingerstyle guitar patterns?
Yes. We specialize in transcribing intricate fingerstyle patterns, including Travis picking, arpeggiated chord progressions, and complex fingerpicking arrangements. Every finger movement is captured in both standard notation and TAB.
Do you notate right-hand fingering for classical guitar?
Yes. Right-hand fingering notation (p, i, m, a) is available as an add-on for classical guitar transcriptions. Left-hand fingering numbers can also be included to help with position changes and shifts.
Can you transcribe from a YouTube video?
Yes. Send us the YouTube link and we will transcribe the guitar part directly from the video audio. We can also work from audio files (MP3, WAV, FLAC), voice memos, or any other recording format.
Do you provide TAB, standard notation, or both?
We provide both TAB and standard notation — either separately or combined on the same score. Classical guitarists typically prefer standard notation only, while most acoustic players prefer having both. Just let us know your preference.
How accurate is your guitar transcription?
Our transcriptions are hand-crafted by professional musicians with trained ears. We capture every note, hammer-on, pull-off, slide, and fingerpicking pattern. The result is performance-ready sheet music that faithfully represents the original recording.
Can you handle alternate tunings or capo positions?
Yes. We can transcribe guitar parts in any tuning (DADGAD, open G, drop D, etc.) and will notate both the tuning and capo position at the top of the score. If you know these details, let us know when submitting your project.
What file formats do you deliver?
Standard delivery includes a print-ready PDF. Additional formats are available as add-ons: MIDI file (for DAW playback), MusicXML (for editing in notation software like MuseScore, Sibelius, Dorico, or Finale), and source files (GP, Sibelius, Dorico, MuseScore, or Finale).
How long does guitar transcription take?
Most acoustic guitar transcription projects are delivered in 2–5 business days. Complex fingerstyle pieces or longer recordings may take slightly longer. Rush delivery is available for urgent projects.
What is the difference between guitar transcription and arrangement?
Guitar transcription captures exactly what is played in a recording — note for note. Guitar arrangement adapts existing music for a new purpose.
- Transcription: Audio in → exact written notation out (what was played)
- Arrangement: Existing music in → adapted version out (simplified, restyled, or re-instrumented)
